The IMU education department will be broken into subgroups to research individual mathematicians and will report their findings and ideas to the entire department for feedback. Each subgroup will contain three people: a historian, a mathematics contributions researcher, and an activity facilitator. These three people, although doing separate jobs, will be expected to collaborate and present their mathematician to the group as a whole. Each job is described on its page, and the student resource page will be helpful in your research. Good Luck!
Each subgroup should choose from the following mathematicians:
Once your group chooses a mathematician, please check with the teacher to confirm that another group isn't doing the same one. Then, start your research, using the resources provided. The resources may take you to outside links as well. Feel free to use this information, but make sure the link is sponsored by the original resource. If you have any questions, please consult your teacher. Once your research is complete, begin working with your group to create a short presentation for the class, including an activity that includes a handout or worksheet for the class. Remember to work together and good luck!
